I didn’t do a WIP Monday last week, as these are mostly all big projects and while I’m making progress on almost all of them- I’m going to need to add a short project to keep my sanity.
This is not a comprehensive list, just a list of the ones who affected my life in some way.
Day 19: Do you watch movies and/or listen to podcasts while knitting? What are your favorite things to knit to?
I usually listen to podcasts when I can’t knit. I will knit in the evenings (or in the movie theatre), and as long as it’s a simple pattern- I can knit and watch TV or knit and watch movies.
There are things I don’t like.
In crochet- I don’t like the granny square. I think it’s because I saw lots of them as a kid, and I just associate it with the 60’s and 70’s. It’s just not a thing I normally go- hey, I NEED to crochet that.
Day 18: Do you knit English or Continental?
I learned to knit English style, and am the most comfortable with that style. I haven’t mastered Continental yet (mostly because of yarn tension), but I can knit two-handed when I need to do colorwork.
The odd thing is that I thought I could be a right-handed crocheter, because I knit English style. However- I learned that I have an easier time crocheting with my left-hand, since the yarn feed is with the right hand.
Day 16: Have you ever had a knitting related injury?
No, although if I knit all day- my fingers will get tired. So I try to change it up, and not knit for more than three hours at one time, or for more than five hours a day.
1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
No. I read in the living room, kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom. Whenever the mood strikes- I read.
Day 15: What was your least favorite pattern and why?
There are patterns that other people say are bad. There are patterns I’ve even looked at, and decided not to knit up, based on the confusing directions. But one pattern I actually started and absolutely did not like was Kyoto by Karen Stockton. This pattern is unnecessarily complicated, in my opinion. This sucker is knit in six pieces. Each sleeve, the front right, the front left, the back, and the sash. Why? WHY?!?
Day 14: What’s the worst yarn/fiber that you’ve worked with and why?
I would usually say COTTON here, because although I love things made from cotton- I do not like knitting with it. It’s not at all nice to your hands.
I don’t talk much about my personal life here. Not that I don’t like you guys- I’m just a very private person. If I do talk, it’s normally light stuff… basically the ME equivalent of small talk. Today is going to be a slightly deeper talk.
Because I’m sleep-deprived, and because sometimes you just NEED to say stuff.
So. My dad is staying with us. And Shadow (my cat) hates it. I don’t think he hates Daddy per say, he just hates the fact that he’s here. All the time. ALL the time. He will frequently meow at Daddy like, “Why don’t you go home! Why are you still here?”
This is his home now, kitten. That’s why we’re moving to a 2-bedroom at the end of the month.
