Day 28: Out and About with Your Knitting and Crochet
Today is all about how to carry your projects when you’re out and about.
I don’t use special bags. I tend to gravitate towards those reusable shopping totes that you find at the grocery stores. They hold a fair amount, and some even have a pocket for notions.
My library also sells small totes (different color every year), and I’ll sometimes use those.
I knit at doctor’s offices, hospitals, in the park, at the movie theatre, in the car (if I’m not driving), and pretty much anywhere I know I’ll have to wait for service.
That’s an excellent idea! We have plenty of those so now I don’t need to purchase/make project bags 🙂
And as long as you have your needles corralled in an organizer- you won’t poke holes in them, and they will last you a pretty long time. I generally have to change bags (due to wear) about once every 6 months or so. It really depends on what the bags are made of. Tighter woven mesh, or canvas bags last the longest (more than 6 months). Cheap mesh and the more airy materials will last up to that 6 month marker.
We have some pretty industrial canvas ones, so I think they’ll work great. Plus I just got some silicone point protectors so no chance of stabbing through the bag. I’m so excited I don’t have to buy anything and can now take my really big projects with me 😀
