The Heirloom Blanket is FINALLY finished!

I just need to weave in the ends, take a picture, and wash it.

Finished Object Spotlight

Since I don’t share overly much when I finish an item, I thought I should start a spotlight series. Why I chose that project… what yarn I used… any modifications I made…

These spotlights are NOT in order of when I finished the project.

WIP Monday!

WIPs

1. Aunt Linda’s Heirloom Blanket

I have four panels left to go on this one. That’s it. If I can finish one panel each day- this blanket will be ready for weaving in the ends and washing on Friday.

2. Washcloths

Two more to knit!

—————————

Once the blanket is done, I will need to cast on a few things.

1. My DC swap monster. (The knitting part is easy. The ___ part will take time. No meaty details, in case my swap partner follows my blog.)

2. My DC monster KAL for week 1 (which I think will be feet). Easy Peasy.

3. Hubby’s test socks.

If you’re counting- that will STILL only be four WIPS, since the blanket will be finished by then. 😀

BUT Hubby said that I will probably need to make my dad a blanket for Christmas. Hmm… time to start color coordinating ideas. I’m thinking a medium to dark grey and yellow. (His favorite color is yellow.) And maybe a third color as an accent. I’ll think on it.

Look What I Found!

I found the most awesome knitting project today:

Sniffle Mitts

These are complete GENIUS!

My nose always runs like a faucet when it gets colder.
The only thing is that I prefer gloves to mittens.
So I’m going to buy the project and see if I can make the pocket a little smaller, so I can convert to fingers.

Then I need to make a pair for Hubby, too. He is always asking for tissue/napkins…

Let’s talk about my FO (Finished Object):

Treveon’s Baby Blanket

I LOVE THIS BLANKET! It’s mostly Caron Simply Soft, and the colors are soooo fun! I swear- if I were shorter- I would keep this blanket for myself! It’s 36 inches wide by 39 inches tall. But alas- I have already delivered it to my nephew. I hope they love it.

WIPs

1. Aunt Linda’s Heirloom Blanket

This one is slow going. I think critical mass burned away any love I had for it. I’m still working on it, but I can only get about four rows before I want to work on something else.

2. Washcloths

It’s amazing how cotton always looks like yarn barf until you wash it. I plan to make two more (and have a set of three). Then I’ll wash them and see if they end up looking any better. If not- who cares! They are just for my use.

3. Charity scarf

I finished the blanket, and still had a need for rainbow. So I cast on a scarf. It will probably end up being given away, but it’s pretty, so far!

4. Weasley sweater

Yeah- this one is going to be frogged. I keep thinking I’d like just a little more fitted look.

One more row…

I was a victim of One More Row Syndrome last night.
I’m usually not so bad about bedtime, but I spent almost an extra hour, trying to get to the last section of this baby blanket.

As a result- I need tea. (Can’t do coffee- it doesn’t like me.)

And I have no caffeinated tea with me.  *sigh*  Also- no tea mug…

But- in other news – this baby blanket should be done by Saturday!  WhoHOO!

WIP Monday!!!

Okay. So when you last left me (3 days ago), I was midway through the foundation square for Treveon’s Blanket. Well- I have completed that square:

And… I am happy to report that I am moving right along!

I took this picture yesterday, when I was in the middle of the green. I have since completed the green and I am 2 rows into the blue. The colors are sooo vibrant and fun!

I also think I will go up to size 11s, once I’m done with the purple. (Since that will be a complete rainbow cycle.) It’s 2 feet already, but I think I will go up to at least 3 1/2 feet, because I also want him to be able to use this as a toddler. Maybe. Depends on how I feel once I get back to the red. (I started with red, so I want to end with red.)
And here are the usual suspects:

2. Aunt Linda’s Heirloom Blanket

-I’m a little farther along on this one, but that colorful baby blanket has captivated my attention! So I mainly only worked on this one to free up the cord. (I needed a longer cord for the baby blanket. That’s the drawback to working with interchangeables- you always need the cord that something else is on.)

Baby Blanket!

Okay. So I changed my mind on Treveon’s Baby Blanket.

It’s because of this:

The Caron Simply Soft is a little too limp to provide proper structure for a Ten Stitch Blanket.  (And yes- I was pulling my edge stitches properly, and I had ten stitches the whole time.)

So I’ve changed directions. Same yarn, different pattern: Fuss Free Baby Blanket

It’s looking MUCH better:

Although, it’s looking a little Christmas-y right now… but that should be fixed, once I add the other colors. But so far – the foundation square is going well!

And the white in the center will be a T.  You know- T for Treveon.
